Earnest Ice Cream

Hey everyone,

So I know Winter is here and talking about Ice cream might be out of season right now but who cares what season it is, everyone eats ice cream almost ALL the time throughout the year. My first time eating Earnest Ice Cream was at Granville Island, when I stepped foot in to Edible Canada and bought myself my very own salted caramel pint. When i had my first bite then, I already knew it was absolutely my fave ice cream ever. I've tried multiple places in the flavor of salted caramel, but I've narrowed it down and Earnest Ice Cream is still my favorite.

During the Summer, Phil & I actually visited Earnest Ice Creams store along Quebec Street. I've been so caught up in "stuff" that blogging about this place totally slipped out of my mind until... now ;P If you know me personally, you would know my absolutely favorite finishes/materials for interior/exteriors are brick, wood, marble. I love how this place has almost ALL of that. The whole exterior is made out of brick and I love how their signage and doors are a much more modern style and I actually really like the mixture of modern with vintage personality.

Food Court Corner - Sun Century Cafe

Hey Everyone,

Jess and I went to Yaohan recently to have dinner, and while walking through the food court, one particular stall caught our eye, and it was Sun Century Cafe.

Joe Fortes Seafood & Chop House

Hey Everyone,

This summer I had the chance to dine at Joe Fortes with some colleagues during lunch, and we had heard they had amazing oysters so we definitely had to try some.

Straight to the food we go!

Smokehouse Sandwich Company

Hey Everyone,

Smokehouse is a place I have heard of before, and passed by a few times in the past, but due to their very limited opening hours, I was never able to dine there until recently.

The outside is very unassuming, as it follows the same color scheme for their awnings as the rest of the building. The inside has some very cool design though.

The lighting fixtures were all made from mason jars, and there were a lot of rustic elements to the decor.

Cafe Joie

Hey everyone!

The other day I took a break from work and school and just ventured off with an old friend searching for new places to try and did some massive saving for my wallet because I found 2 amazing jackets from the vintage store.

Cafe Joie is a super cute cafe located right across from Metrotown. Because the store location is at the corner of a hill, it is very easy to pass by and not notice its existence. I find a lot of coffee shops nowadays have the same interior vibe. The type that I really like, rustic meet modern.

This place serves waffles, panini's, coffee buns, coffee, & tons of macarons! It wasn't difficult for me to choose because I already saw photos on Zomato previously and I knew automatically I'll be trying out their waffles.

Milltown Bar & Grill

Hey Everyone,

Recently a good friend recommended me to this restaurant so I had to bring Jess along to check it out! When I Google Mapped this place in the beginning, I was surprised to see that this restaurant was located on some sort of "island" off the southwest corner of Vancouver. If you didn't know where this restaurant was ahead of time, it would be very difficult to find if you just drove around looking for it. I highly suggest Google Mapping this first!

As you can see on the menu, they state "Yes it's true...you are technically sitting in Richmond! But we would prefer that you tell people we are in Marpole!" That would make this place the only part of Richmond I know of that is accessible from Vancouver without crossing a bridge.

Shishinori

Hello everyone!

On Saturday, after our workout, my friend and I decided to go to Shishinori. It was my first time trying Japanese brunch so I was more than excited! Shishinori is located on Cambie, between 7th and 8th ave. It's a very small restaurant and I think can only seat approx. 14 people. We were lucky enough to find two seats along the window. So when we first stepped in, there were a few other people following behind us. This place functions by ordering first and then seating yourself after with your number. Because there were people behind us, I was rushed to order my dish. Since it was my first time, I wasn't sure what to get, so I asked the cashier what she recommends. But her answer did not help me one bit because she was saying everything is popular. Which it may be true, but I expected her to suggest something to speed up the process. Therefore, in the spur of the moment I decided to go for a rice bowl.

Fliptop Filipino Fusion Food Truck

Hi Everyone,

So I got word of a food truck being parked downstairs of my office today from my colleague who sent photos of the truck and their menu. It was the Fliptop Filipino Fusion Food Truck! Personally I haven’t heard of this particular food truck before, as I’m slowly getting to know more food trucks, so I had to give it a try.

They had music playing from their portable player which set the mood for a fun and chill atmosphere. Their graphics on the truck looked very cool indeed and I like the design. They definitely attracted a lot of customers from our building as they were there from around 11am to 2pm.

After browsing through the menu board, I decided on the Fliptop’s Pulled Pork Sandwich $8. My colleagues ordered the same so I ordered 3, plus a Dalandan Lime Soda $3.

The American Cheesesteak Co.!

If you guys have never been to The American Cheesesteak than you're missing out! I highly recommend this place! It is located on Davie and they don't have their personal parking so the only way is if you transit or you pay parking. At first when I heard the name I thought it'll be a very fancy place but nope, it's a super casual atmosphere and you basically pay at the counter first and you go sit yourself and grab utensils on the side on your own. When you purchase food, they'll hand you a number tag so they'll know what you ordered and they'll bring it over when it's ready.

Bottled sodas ($3.00)
I love how our drinks are bottled. I seriously don't know where people purchase these! If I live by myself I would totally stock up my fridge with bottled soda. LOL
limmerZ love root beer in general and he never tried this brand of root beer before. Thru curiosity, he purchased this and at the end he didn't like it very much.

Menchie's Frozen Yogurt

After a big meal at the Hub, we decided to go to Menchie's for some dessert. I've heard many good things about this place, but I always thought it'll be exactly the same as Qoola. Once we arrived, there were already a lot of people there. The place was nearly packed! The interior was really cute and fun and I thought it was an awesome place to go chill with friends ,but its a pretty small place so if you're with a big group of people, I wish you luck that it's not busy that night.

Yogurt is always a better option compared to ice-cream. I love ice-cream but after a big meal, I just want to go for some healthy dessert! If you're on a strict diet or whatever, I can guarantee Menchie's will not disappoint! Plus it is a lot cheaper than most other dessert options.
