Before Christmas hit, a new Burnaby Taiwanese style cafe opened up across from Metrotown. This is no ordinary Taiwanese cafe because you're probably thinking "bubble tea & popcorn chicken". This is a legit cafe that serves, tea, coffee, sandwiches, waffles, etc. We were invited by Fondway Cafe & Chobee PR to their food media launch event and we were extremely excited to be able to attend. The whole restaurant was closed for this special media event so we had the whole place to check out and try their food & drinks.
When you first enter, on the right hand side, there is a whole wall filled with different types of tea. In front of each tea can, they include a description & price per grams. We were able to try out a few drinks they prepared for us and all of them were extremely delicious. When you smell the flavor, it smells very strong BUT the taste of the tea is very subtle.

A week or two ago, Phil & I decided to go to Steveston for brunch. Randomly we saw this little waffle joint on the side and decided to switch up our brunch idea for some waffles. Their sign is not massive so its easily missed. They have reserved spots right in front for specifically their customers only. Lucky enough, there were spots available. When we got there, we were the only customers. Their interior was very bright and their color choices are very bold. They've got bright yellow walls on one side and bright orange on the other. Their choice of wall paintings/art were very unique as well. Right when you step foot into this place, it smells AMAZING. They have several choices of flavour to choose from.

I initially came across photos on Instagram and I knew automatically this is a place I must check out with Phil. When we first stepped in, they used a lot of wood as the interior. You got wood flooring, wood paneling on the walls, & wooden counter top. Even their front facade has wood. Even though they were using a lot of wood, it did not feel overwhelming. They balanced it with white chairs, white walls, etc. The interior is very long and narrow but can still manage to sit a good amount of people. Their style is very relaxing, chill, and clean. They have photos of their food as their menu and I think that's very smart. Their photos were professionally taken and I seriously wanted to order every single one they had to offer.
They have coffee and tea options on the menu. But if you want water, they have mason jars on the side with lemon water available at the back.
By the way, for parking, they have street parking right in front of the restaurant OR you can search for free residential parking at the back.

Last week I went to Downtown with my friend, Ali. Our main mission of the day was to go explore Downtown and check out the Map wall art at the Shangrila Hotel. But before exploring, obviously we have to go fill up our bellies first. We had several options on our list so we went with the one we favored most. But the top 3 options were COMPLETELY packed full of people by the time we got there. Each place notified us that it'll be around 45 minutes to 2 hour wait. WHAT???
So we ended up strolling among Gastown area and came across Chill Winston. Chill Winston has been on "My List" for a while but never got a chance to try it! All the tables were filled up outside so we were very scared the wait would be ridiculous. We took a chance and stepped up to ask anyways. We were surprisingly shocked that they had plenty of table indoors. It was a super gorgeous day so sitting outside would be the ideal seating BUT by that time me & Ali got there we were starving already therefore we were completely satisfied with an indoor seating.
The interior space looked amazing! Super luxurious but still have a sense of the whole Gastown characteristic. Gastown is all about the brick, so obviously in their interior they had brick walls. They had really comfortable padded seatings and the light fixtures were very unique. Overall, I was just amazed at the interior design and it was definitely a comfortable atmosphere to just relax and chit chat.

The other day I took a break from work and school and just ventured off with an old friend searching for new places to try and did some massive saving for my wallet because I found 2 amazing jackets from the vintage store.
Cafe Joie is a super cute cafe located right across from Metrotown. Because the store location is at the corner of a hill, it is very easy to pass by and not notice its existence. I find a lot of coffee shops nowadays have the same interior vibe. The type that I really like, rustic meet modern.
This place serves waffles, panini's, coffee buns, coffee, & tons of macarons! It wasn't difficult for me to choose because I already saw photos on Zomato previously and I knew automatically I'll be trying out their waffles.

The weather in Vancouver has been extremely gorgeous lately and so the other day me & my friend decided to go down to Kits for a haircut, but we had a bit of time before our appointment therefore we decided to try out a restaurant nearby. OH! and one more thing before I start talking about food! I also bought myself my own little sunflower plant :) Sunflowers are by far my fave flower and I just had to bring one home to brighten up my space for the summer!
Now lets talk about WAFFLES! We ended up going to a small little restaurant called Waffle Gone Wild. They were originally Japanese owned but now has been sold to a new owner. Either way the food is still the same and I was really pleased with my breakfast order.

We were thinking of where to eat for dinner before heading to a movie, and we thought of this restaurant that was recommended to us by a friend who had dined here recently. Since I had to go NCIX at Aberdeen anyways, dining here made perfect sense!

While at a Remax Christmas event on Commercial Drive where our company Cherry On Top Designs had a gift basket up as a raffle draw prize, Jess and I walked around the area to look for a place to have lunch. We came across BierCraft, and since either of us have yet to try it, we decided to dine here!
The inside of it definitely has that tavern feel to it. The bar is right inside when you step in and runs towards the back of the restaurant. There are tv's at the bar, and also several tv's in the dining areas as well. We were seated at a window seat in the front right corner.
Their menu has quite the extensive beer selected, as expected from a place named as such. With plenty of beer available on tap, it was very hard to decide which one to try, so I ended up picking the flight of BierCraft Beer Sampler $10.
As you can see from the photo, going from left to right, we have the D'Hiven, Maiselsweiss, Salty Scot, and Resolution. They all tasted like what they looked like, except for Resolution. Resolution had this peculiar flavour that I couldn't quite put my finger on, and was quite weird; so much so that I didn't end up finishing it! My favourites in order would have to be 2>1>3>4.
For food, since this was basically brunch for us, I had the Waffles $11, and Jess had the Fish & Chips $13 plus a coffee $2.75.
Another place I searched up on Urbanspoon, this was highly recommended and was one of the higher ranking places for breakfast. I know limmerZ love waffles so I knew this place would be perfect for us to try! It was very hard to find parking near the restaurant and mostly it was pay parking, so if you're driving down there please keep in mind that it'll be impossible to be able to find free parking. The restaurant in general was small and when we got there we were the only customers probably because it was a holiday and people tend to sleep in. The layout of the restaurant was simple, so not much to say about that.
