Glowbal Grill

Hey Everyone,

So back around Christmas time, I had the chance to check out the new Glowbal Grill that opened up at the Telus building!

LA Grill

Hey Everyone,

So I've heard about this restaurant from a couple people before but never got around to checking it out until recently when I was in the area with my colleagues. We were here for lunch so this will be a review on their lunch menu.

Have a look at their menus here:

Very good price on draft beers, especially on my new favourite, 1516 Bavarian Lager for only $3.95!!!

Royalwood Restaurant & Lounge

Hey Everyone,

Writing a different kind of food blog today, as I'm writing about Royalwood Golf course's restaurant! The reason for this is because Royalwood has a Steak Night Special for 2 on Saturday and Sundays!

This golf course is located in Chilliwack and is basically next to the mountains. The deal is $90 for a twosome to have a round of golf with a power cart included, and a special dinner after your round!

For the food, you get a choice of New York Steak or Teriyaki Chicken. I went with my dad and we both got the steak:

Hy's Steakhouse | Cocktail Bar

Hey Everyone,

Jess and I recently dined at Hy's Steakhouse, one of Vancouver's high-end steakhouses! We had bought the $100 gift card deal from Costco which you can buy for $80, which is an awesome deal to dine at a restaurant like this. It was the first time either of us have dined here but we both heard mixed reviews about this restaurant, so we went in not knowing what to expect.

The exterior of the restaurant doesn't really look like a restaurant, as it looks like something more from the Harry Potter/medieval era. The banner with their crest/coat of arms seriously gives off the Harry Potter/Hogwarts vibe. It's attached to the side of Cathedral Place, but for the most part, it is its own building.

There is valet parking at the restaurant, but the parking lot right beside it under Cathedral Place has very cheap parking for downtown, so I would recommend just parking there and walking up.

REVISIT-Cactus Club Richmond

Hey Everyone,

Jess and I recently went to dine at Cactus Club in Richmond for dinner for Xmas/New Years/Holidays. This location has its own sizable parking lot and it situated on Number 3 Road adjacent to Lansdowne Centre. Being a Saturday night, I was expecting it to be busy so I called ahead of time and booked a table, even though it was only for a table of 2. Turns out I was right and there were several others waiting to be seated already when we arrived.

We ended up being seated in their solarium at a nice large table for 4! Even though it was a cold night, their solarium had plenty of hanging gas heaters to keep it nice and warm at each table. If you haven't been to their solarium, it's a pretty nice place to eat at with comfy cushioned chairs and large tables, several fireplaces, and a fountain in the middle.

For drinks, normally I'd start with a mojito, but even though the drink you see below looks like one, it's actually a Brazilian! This is my new favourite drink at Cactus Club! It's got a mix of kiwi and lime for its main flavour so it's a pretty sweet drink. There's no mint leaves in here, so that's where it differs from the mojito, but the kiwi is a nice substitution here. The taste is sweet and is very refreshing! If you like mojitos, you will likely like this too. If you don't like mojitos because of the mint, then you will like this too!

We started with a Tuna Tataki, which is amazing here! We were so hungry we devoured it in a couple minutes. The tuna tataki is served on top of chopped avocado, cantaloupe, and sliced oranges, with a carrot and what looks to be radish base. The tuna tataki is cooked perfectly with a thin layer on the outside seared. Highly recommend this appy!

Black + Blue

Hey everybody!!!

So the other day me and my bestie went out for our annual xmas dinner. This year we were supposed to go to the Keg, but after plans changed we switched to a way fancier place in Downtown and decided to go all out. After all...it is Xmas time and we just received our bonus from work so might as well treat ourselves to something amazing. We went to Black + Blue located on Alberni. That street is usually packed full of people so either cab down or pay for valet parking. I swear paying for  valet is a better deal then street parking if you are intending to stay there for over 3 hours.

To start off our dinner, we order 4 Kusshi Oysters ($3.70/each). They were SUPER fresh.

Next we ordered the Beef Carpaccio ($16.00) which was highly recommended by our waiter. He was right...this dish is AMAZING. The combination of the raw beef, grill oyster mushrooms and truffle aioli was just perfect.

Dockside Restaurant

Hey Everyone,

My first post on this blog so this is pretty exciting for me! I've been to several restaurants on Granville Island but I haven't tried Dockside yet so this was totally new to me.

First impressions of the restaurant were that it was very nice considering it was part of the Granville Island Hotel. You are greeted with a nice flame and fountain feature outside the hotel entrance. The restaurant is located at the back of the hotel lobby so it's not difficult to locate.

Since it was a nice and sunny day, we had lunch out on their very large patio. The patio consisted of a large cabana-like structure in the middle with several tables underneath, with many other tables around it, most with their own umbrella to provide shade. We were seated at one of the tables with an umbrella. The view and location really speak true to the name of the restaurant, as our view was spectacular from the patio overlooking False Creek.

Now onto the food! Our party ordered almost their entire appetizer list plus one pizza, which can be found on their menu online. We were very hungry!

Vegetable Spring Rolls $12

Don't mind the hands cutting into the spring rolls! (We were starving and couldn't wait to dig in) These were not bad, just your typical veggie spring rolls. Nothing special here, just a decent appetizer. Don't think they're worth $12 but most of their appetizers were around this price point.

Legendary Chili Squid $12
