Shiny Tea- Burnaby Location

Hey everyone!

Today we went to Crystal Mall to check out some sunglasses and we stumbled upon the newly opened location of Shiny Tea on the 2nd floor, next to the food court. They also have another location in Aberdeen Centre (the new side of Aberdeen). We've seen many photos on social media of other foodies trying out their bubble tea so we thought we might as well give this place a try. This bubble tea shop originated from Taiwan and they have a green sign that states they've been authorized by Mr. Tsung-Ho Tu, inventor of Taiwan's Tapioca Milk Tea.

Been slow with the blogging lately because we've been so busy with family gatherings for the holidays. But now we are back and have multiple places lined up to blog! So today I will be talking about a newly opened bubble tea place within Crystal Mall in Burnaby. I hardly go to Crystal Mall because its pretty far for me unless I'm heading to Metrotown. The other day we came across this bubble tea cafe and noticed the old bubble tea place has closed up and this has replaced their location. My friend actually opened this place up and I've noticed on her previous facebook posts talking about their birds nest bubble teas but I didn't know they took over the previous bubble tea cafe! When I got there I was excited to say hi to her and also try out their stuff!

**I just want to put a disclaimer out there, even though she's my friend, my opinion on their food and drink is 100% my true, honest opinion.**

Shanghai Elan Restaurant

Sorry for the lack of blogposts lately. February is always the busiest time for me & Phil because it consists both of our birthdays, Valentines day, and soon to come, Chinese New Year.

So for Phil's Birthday dinner with his family, we ended up going to Shanghai Elan Restaurant which is located in Crystal Mall in Burnaby. Usually for his birthday we always choose to go to a western restaurant, but this year his uncle, auntie & grandma from Edmonton is visiting, so we decided to go for Shanghai cuisine. 

I've been here with Phil's family before and I always thought the food was decent. This time around is no differ. Some of the dishes we ordered this time is not what we usually order, so I was excited to try some new dishes!

First off, we got soup. This is called the Song Sao Fish Soup $12.50. It has heavy vinegar flavoring, so if you don't like vinegar, I don't recommend ordering this soup. Overall, I thought it was okay, the vinegar taste did overlap the majority of the soup so you can barely taste anything else in it.

Next up, Special Crab Meat Sauce with Tofu $18.95. At first glance I assumed this was a spicy dish, but nope, it's just the Crab meat coloring. The crab meat sauce soaked up the tofu and it was just absolutely delicious. Pairing this with white rice was just the perfect combination.
